Physical Education

Being active for good health

Today in America, there is an increased awareness for the need of physical fitness in children. Here at Acaciawood we want to lay a good foundation in the life-long practice of exercise in order to be a productive worker and for the quality of life. Therefore, in grades 2-6 the daily recess and physical education program consist of exercise routines, organized games, and supervised play. These times are so enjoyable for our elementary students. Although the spirit of play is impossible to define, the value of play is clear. While students are expending energy, they also have the opportunity to learn and develop:

  • The basic skills and rules of outdoor games
  • Good sportsmanship
  • Teamwork (cooperation, socialization, and collaboration)
  • Game strategies and problem solving
  • Large motor skills and bodily coordination
