Becoming an active learner

While teaching new math skills, it is important to train a child to become an independent learner. It is our endeavor at Acaciawood to guide our students through the process of how to learn. The more a child learns how to learn, the more he/she will be an active learner. An active learner is one who identifies problems or difficulties and then knows where to go for solutions. Our math curriculum equips students with a firm foundation in math skills while stimulating their interest in math with the following components:

  • Saxon math program
  • Memorization of basic facts
  • Math manipulatives
  • Problem solving
  • Math games and competitions
